Mignon, pittore di fiori ancora-vita, venne da Francoforte e visse a Utrecht. I suoi sontuosi fiori sembrano molto simili a quelli del suo maestro Jan Davidsz de Heem, ma sono un po 'più forti nella forma e nel colore. Il dipinto appartiene all'altro fiore ancora-vita che è anche appeso qui. Vengono dalla collezione della famiglia Orange-Nassau e sono stati appesi nel Castello di Oranienstein a Diez, Germania, nel XVIII secolo.
