Napoléon devant la maison présumée de Nicolaus Copernic, qu'il visita en 1812. Selon la théorie établie en 1740 par Samuel Luther Geret (le dernier maire de Toruń avant les partitions), la maison familiale était considérée comme le logement d'angle sans prétention au 40 Kopernika Street (anciennement St. Anna Street, coin de la rue Piekary). Pour souligner cette théorie, le maire a fait construire un monument spécifique à l'occasion devant l'astronome.
