The stretchers support a handled bronze vase shaped like a classical oinochoe. These two tables were probably delivered by the marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre to Count Stroganoff in St Petersburg in the late eighteenth century; they remained in the Stroganoff family’s collection until they were put up for sale by the Soviet government in 1931, when Moïse de Camondo was able to buy them.
