Cette peinture montre un alchimiste assis en jarre paysanne. Dans ses mains il tient un creuset et une paire de pinces, travaillant devant la lumière d'un feu éclatant dans la fournaise. Un trépied à proximité tient un petit pot au-dessus du feu, tandis que les pinces, un sablier, et d'autres outils et des outils s'accrochent à proximité.
