Im ersten Jahrzehnt des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts erhielt Dunouy zahlreiche Kommissionen, um Blick auf Landgüter in kurzer Entfernung von Paris zu malen. Seit dem achtzehnten Jahrhundert, châteaux einschließlich Ermenonville, Malmaison, Montmorency, Mortefontaine und Saint-Cloud hatte alle erworben Parks in der informellen, englischen Stil in dieser Skizze gesehen. Die Engländer hatten ihrerseits Inspiration für ihre Privatparks aus den arkadischen Gemälden der französischen Künstler aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, die in Italien arbeiten, wie Nicolas Poussin und Claude Lorrain.
