Questi pochades sono stati eseguiti quando Amadeo, installato a Parigi due anni fa, ha deciso di dedicarsi interamente alla pittura dopo aver rinunciato all'architettura e a una caricatura interregnum. Il contatto con i pittori della Cité Falguière non è esente dalla scelta del soggetto, così come dal suo trattamento. Prima Toulouse-Lautrec e poi Picasso ha fatto sia innumerevoli caffè interni con grande libertà di esecuzione in cerca di una nuova sintesi. In relazione all'insieme dell'Amadeo
