Nella sua imponente rappresentazione del monte Sonnblick, tra cui una cascata di corsa e Kolm Saigurn, Loos dimostra in modo convincente la natura elementare delle zone alte alpine e delle forze naturali attive in esse. Il modo di Loos lo mostra come un pioniere della pittura realistica del paesaggio. Tuttavia, il tradizionale scenario di primo piano barocco con figure di personale romantico porta nella composizione pittorica espansiva eroicamente idealizzata.
