Nel 1516, l’artista di Norimberga Ludwig Krug (1488-1532) incise il motivo “L’adorazione dei Magi” in rame. A differenza di Dürer, che ha scelto lo stesso scenario per entrambi i pezzi di adorazione, l'adorazione dei re di Krug ha luogo in un interno decorato con rilievi imponenti, che sono sostenuti da colonne ornate, la cui nobile apparizione si trova in netto contrasto con la povera locanda, dove Maria e Giuseppe hanno trovato rifugio per la nascita di Cristo. Oltre ai tre Magi, molti altri nobili, forse l'entourage reale, possono essere visti che sono venuti per adorare Gesù Bambino.
