Anna Gerresheim, 15 anni più vecchia di Elisabeth von Eicken, era anche quasi un decennio prima di Paul Müller-Kaempff in età. Venne da una famiglia borghese con molti bambini a Ribnitz, che era finanziariamente strappiato e inizialmente si aspettava che l'artista donò Anna per guadagnare un reddito rispettabile dal suo dipinto. Questo ha applicato soprattutto alla ritrattistica. Ma Anna Gerresheim si è liberata da questa attesa in un primo momento. Viaggi di studio in Danimarca, Inghilterra e nel 1883 a Parigi diresse il suo sguardo al nuovo territorio artistico, per cui ricevette gli impulsi decisivi da Barbizon
