António Teixeira Carneiro Júnior nacque ad Amarante nel 1872 e morì a Porto nel 1930. Fu pittore, illustratore, poeta e professore di portoghese. Era l’unico pittore e poeta del simbolismo portoghese, esplorando la spiritualità e catturando i sentimenti, ottenendo il titolo “Ritratto delle anime”. All'età di 28 anni è stato assegnato all'Exposition Universelle di Parigi, con l'opera
