António Teixeira Carneiro Júnior nació en Amarante, 1872, y murió en Oporto, en 1930. Fue pintor, ilustrador, poeta y profesor de portugués. Era el único pintor y poeta del simbolismo portugués, explorando la espiritualidad y captando sentimientos, consiguiendo el título “Portraitista de Almas”. A la edad de 28 años fue galardonado en la exposición Universelle en París, con la obra
