L'iconografia vista in questo ritratto rivela un devoto di Vishnu. La pasta di legno di sandalo tikka sulla sua fronte e i topi sulla sua testa indicano un'affiliazione al warkari sampraday da Maharashtra, un movimento religioso all'interno della tradizione spirituale bhakti dell'induismo.
