Il ritratto reale della corte sassone dipinse questa somiglianza del principe e lo mostrò all'Accademia di Belle Arti il 5 marzo 1791. Alexander Mikhailovich indossa il costume di una cameralain imperiale; la pelliccia ermina fodera il suo cappotto manifesta il suo stato principesco esaltato. Sul retro della barella del dipinto è una lettura dell'etichetta dell'inventario scritto a mano: “[No.] 31. [Proprietà della] Principessa Kochubey.” L'etichetta significa che questo ritratto era nella raccolta della nuora di Alessandro, la principessa Elena Pavlovna, sposata con il principe Vasilii Viktorovich Kochubey (1812-1850).
