Eine wenig bekannte historische Figur in Frankreich, er war ein brillanter Soldat während des Ersten Weltkriegs, aber auch ein anerkannter und gefeierter Diplomat, vor allem in den tschechischen Ländern, für seine Rolle bei der Schaffung der Armee der Tschechoslowakei. 1895 absolvierte er 2. an der War School. Er war Mitglied des Generalstabs der Minister (Billot, Cavaignac, de Freycinet). Im Jahre 1900, Chef des Stabes des Passes. Joffre in Madagaskar. Militärattaché in Berlin 1909-1912. 1913 Chef des Stabes der Gale. Lyautey in Marokko. Er nahm brillant am gesamten Ersten Weltkrieg teil und wurde zum Hauptgeneral ernannt. 1919 war er Leiter einer französischen Militärmission in der Tschechoslowakei. Zugelassen
