Máquina de coser mano es una de veinticinco obras de medios mixtos que Dove creó durante la década de 1920. La máquina está pintada en una lámina de aluminio, cuya superficie de plata aburrida permanece visible en ciertas áreas. El tejido cosido es un trozo real de lino. Una máquina de coser operada a mano, como esta, ya habría sido considerada vieja por los años veinte. Sin embargo, Dove y su esposa poseían uno y lo usaban en su vida diaria.
