Domenico Cesa-Bianchi (1879-1956), allievo di Camillo Golgi a Pavia dal 1899 al 1904, dopo la laurea, si dedicò per lungo tempo a studi morfologici a Pavia e Francoforte sul Meno. Ottenne ulteriori insegnamenti in istologia patologica nel 1909 e in patologia medica speciale nel 1913. Dal 1909 si trasferisce all'Università di Milano, inizialmente assistente medico di Luigi Devoto alla Clinica del Lavoro, poi medico primario nell'Ospedale Maggiore (1922), professore incaricato di patologia medica speciale e infine professore pieno (1926). Particolarmente degno di nota sono gli studi sulla diagnosi clinica della tubercolosi polmonare, su Banti
