Domenico Cesa-Bianchi (1879-1956), Schüler von Camillo Golgi in Pavia von 1899 bis 1904, nach seinem Abschluss, widmete er sich lange Zeit für morphologische Studien in Pavia und Frankfurt am Main. 1909 erhielt er zusätzliche Lehren in der pathologischen Histologie und in der speziellen medizinischen Pathologie 1913. Von 1909 zog er an die Universität Mailand, zunächst medizinischer Assistent von Luigi Devoto in die Klinik für Arbeit, dann primärer Arzt in der Ospedale Maggiore (1922), Professor für spezielle medizinische Pathologie und schließlich Vollprofessor (1926). Besonders hervorzuheben sind die Studien zur klinischen Diagnose der Lungentuberkulose auf Banti
