Con il comando, “offrire ai bambini di venire da me”, Cristo insisteva ai suoi discepoli non volenti che il suo ministero si estendeva anche ai giovanissimi. Questo dipinto fu commissionato dalla Scuola di Liverpool per il Cieco nel 1837 come compagno di un lavoro di William Hilton (1786-1839),
