Le tre sorelle di Benjamin West mostrano tre donne eleganti in un giardino rigoglioso. Tenendo cesti tessuti, le donne sembrano essere piselli sguscianti, ma assomigliano al mitologico Tre Grazie. Le linee fluenti dell’Occidente suggeriscono che le donne si uniscono armoniosamente tra loro e con la natura. Il modo sciolto in cui ha gestito la sua penna qui contrasta bruscamente con la qualità più finita dei suoi dipinti. Il fatto che il disegno non si riferisce a qualsiasi opera conosciuta dall'artista è un po' sorprendente. La generazione di West di solito ha disegnato per stabilire disegni per dipinti. La figura con un'espressione dolce a destra ricorda un'opera attribuita a Leonardo da Vinci, che Ovest venerava.
