In den 1340er Jahren arbeitete in Sant Joan de les Abadesses eine Gruppe von Bildhauern, die sich auf die Produktion von Werken in Alabaster spezialisierte. Hervorragend unter ihrer gesamten Produktion ist das Altarbild der Leidenschaft, des Todes, der Auferstehung und des Aufstiegs Jesu, das 1341 dem Bildhauer Bernat Saulet in Auftrag gegeben wurde. Es wurde für die Kirche, die dem Heiligen Märtyrer Johannes und Paul gewidmet, populär genannt ‘Sant Joanipol
