La frise de stuc de l'artiste danois Thorvaldsen fut exécutée en 1812 sur la commande directe de Raffaele Stern. Le travail a rencontré un grand succès, déterminé non seulement par la perfection technique et stylistique qui l'a connotée, mais par le contenu politique implicite, qui appelait Napoléon.
