Bonaventura Peeters the Elder war ein barocker flämischer Meeresmaler, Graveur, Zeichner und Dichter. Amid windwhippte Wellen, Segel-Boote kämpfen, obwohl ein Gewitter. Die Schiffe streben in alle Richtungen an, offenbar im Sturm disorientiert. Luck scheint jedoch auf ihrer Seite zu sein; die dunklen Wolken brechen auf, getrieben von der Sonne. Ein Strahl wie ein Scheinwerfer erleuchtet dramatisch eines der Boote nach hinten, als ob in einer Bühne.
