Questo album ha quattro dipinti del tardo maestro Ming Chen Hongshou e sette di suo figlio Chen Zi. La prima è una delle immagini più iconiche dell’oeuvre di Chen Hongshou, un autoritratto lutto che raffigura l’artista che annega i suoi dolori nel vino. È seguito da dipinti di paesaggi, uccelli, fiori e figure. La combinazione di soggetti diversi in un singolo album è stata conosciuta come “zahua”, ed è stata un’opportunità per un pittore di dimostrare versatilità. Un album zahua è destinato a deliziare lo spettatore con varietà, come un nuovo soggetto appare con ogni giro della pagina. I dipinti possono essere stati uniti in un album da un collezionista in un secondo momento, o anche forse dallo stesso Chen Zi.
