Los ambientes novatos de los paisajes de Claude evocan el comienzo o fin de un día de verano. Su estilo característico contrasta la intensa luz en el fondo con sombra lírica en primer plano. En lugar de un tema estrictamente clásico, Claude ha incluido un edificio a la izquierda que era típico del campo fuera de Roma.
