박물관: Palace of Capodimonte (Naples, Italy)

A specialist of painting from observed reality, Consalvo Carelli was engaged since his youth in official commissions which offorded him prestigious access in the primary European courts. Adhering to the principles of the School of Posillipo, the artist depicts the Island of Nisida seen from Naples, and envelopes it within a landscape brimming with romantic suggestions. All the watercolors displayed in this room were probably commissioned by the king, and showcase the intimacy and singularity of the artist’s vision.
