In questa scena animata di una semplice pista sterrata, l'occhio viene condotto simultaneamente verso sinistra e verso il basso verso destra. Troyon adottò questa duplice prospettiva dalla pittura paesaggistica olandese del XVII secolo, che avanguardò gli artisti francesi della sua generazione studiarono per alternative naturalistiche a modelli più formali e italiani favoriti dalla Académie des Beaux-Arts. Troyon raffigurava la penetrazione della luce del sole brillante attraverso la tettoia dell'albero con spazzole palpitante che raramente era uguale alla metà del 1840, quando questo lavoro era probabilmente dipinto.
