Una manzana dorada, sostenida discretamente en la mano de la mujer, la identifica como Venus, diosa del amor. Según la mitología griega, Venus recibió la manzana como premio en un famoso concurso de belleza, donde el juez, París, la escogió como la diosa más bella femenina, causando la ira de los otros dos candidatos (Juno y Minerva). La artista representa a Venus como una mujer idealizada y atractiva en media longitud, su mano tocando su pecho desnudo.
