Come l'uomo che mangia da un vaso di terracotta (SK-A-1600), l'altra opera di Daniel Boone nel Rijksmuseum, questo dipinto nel maneggiamento e il soggetto sembra deve tanto a Egbert van Heemskerk I (c. 1634-1704) quanto a qualsiasi artista fiammingo del tempo, anche se c'è un collegamento con i Backgammon Players di David Teniers II (1610-1690). Una fonte che sia Van Heemskerk che Boone hanno in comune potrebbe essere stata l'opera di Adriaen van Ostade (1610-1685), attiva ad Haarlem, per esempio i Card Players in un Inn del 16559 o il Three Peasants Drinking dei primi 1660. 10 Confrontabile nell’opera di Van Heemskerk è forse il Peasants Making Merry del 1660. 11Come con SK-A-1600, è pericoloso proporre una data di esecuzione dell'immagine attuale in quanto non ci sono dipinti esistenti datati da Boone. Ma può datare dal 1660 o più tardi. Il supporto di rovere tedesco o olandese sarebbe stato pronto per l'uso nel 1644 o più plausibilmente da dieci anni più tardi.Un tavolo lungo e basso simile con un flagon su di esso è stato incluso nei Backgammon Players di Boone venduti a Versailles il 25 novembre 1984; in quella foto è stato collocato un barile di fronte a esso.Gregory Martin, 2022
