La sorella maggiore di questo suggestivo ritratto è stata identificata come la quinta figlia del banchiere Francesco Sassetti e sua moglie (avevano sette figlie in tutto). L’occasione potrebbe essere stata il suo matrimonio con Simone d’Amerigo Carnesecchi nel 1488. La sua collana accattivante è fatta di materiali riccamente simbolici che comunicano i suoi meriti come moglie secondo ideali contemporanei, con perle che indicano la sua purezza e un filo di coralli che rappresentano la salute. Lo sfondo era originariamente blu, che oscurava come il pigmento azurite invecchiato. La cornice fine è del XVI secolo.
