Allievo di Annibale Carracci, Domenichino è stato un sostenitore chiave di uno stile idealizzato e classico. I suoi paesaggi traspongono l'osservazione della natura in un regno senza tempo, idilliaco. Questo olio su rame raffigura una scena del libro biblico di Esodo in cui un cespuglio ardente era uno dei tre miracoli che Dio ha mostrato a Mosè per confermare la sua missione di condurre gli israeliti fuori dall'Egitto.
