Diese Arbeit des Impressionisten Degas ist ein Porträt, das seinen Freunden Mr. und Mrs. Manet geschenkt wurde. Es porträtierte Mrs. Manet, das Klavier zu spielen, und Manet hörte hinter ihr zu. Nach einer Theorie schnitt Manet einen Teil der Leinwand ab, weil er mit der Darstellung seiner Frau unzufrieden war. Degas sah das später und nahm das Gemälde in Wut zurück. Es wird gesagt, dass ein Kunsthändler ein Leinwandtuch zu diesem Werk hinzugefügt, das in Degas gefunden wurde
