Edward Field venne a Pont-Aven nel 1882 e rimase con altri pittori all'Hotel Julia. Tornò in Bretagna nel 1885 e fondò un indirizzo a Pont-Aven. Questo pannello della Pensione Gloanec di Pont-Aven è stato tramandato da un membro della famiglia alberghiera all'altro fino alla sua acquisizione da parte del Museo. Le pareti della sala da pranzo sono state decorate con pannelli dipinti, doni degli artisti a Marie-Jeanne Gloanec (1839–1915). Questo lavoro raffigura un interno tranquillo in cui un uomo che indossa un cappello siede leggendo vicino a una stufa. Dietro di lui, diverse tele sono visualizzate sul muro
