Questo scaffale è uno dei soli due orologi fatti in America nella collezione. Elnathan Taber (1768-1854) è stato un orologiaio roxbury del Massachusetts che servì il suo apprendistato sotto il celebre orologiaio americano Simon Willard. Questo stile di orologio scaffale, noto come box-on-box, è stato fatto quasi esclusivamente in Massachusetts. Il movimento a peso dell'orologio richiede un caso più alto per funzionare correttamente. I casi per orologi sono stati costruiti da cabinet-maker, non l'orologio; questo è dotato di mogano fine-figurato e motivi fan intarsiati. L'uso di intarsi e i suoi disegni sono rappresentativi dello stile decorativo popolare nel secolo scorso, grazie a designer come Thomas Sheraton e George Hepplewhite.
