Nel corso della sua carriera, Eugène Boudin ha dipinto regolarmente le coloratissime regate che si sono svolte sulla Costa Normandia e sono state importanti attrazioni turistiche. In questo lavoro, le navi nel porto di Deauville sono festooned con bandiere colorate che girano e girano il vento. La gara della barca di festival si svolge in primo piano. Boudin era chiamato il “re dei cieli”, e qui evoca meravigliosamente i movimenti mutevoli delle nuvole.
