Durante su carrera, Eugène Boudin pintó regularmente las regatas coloridas que tuvieron lugar en la costa de Normandía y fueron importantes atracciones turísticas. En este trabajo, los barcos en el puerto de Deauville están llenos de banderas coloridas que giran y giran en el viento. La carrera de barco del festival tiene lugar en primer plano. Boudin fue llamado el "rey de los cielos", y aquí evoca maravillosamente los movimientos cambiantes de las nubes. Un examen cercano revela que la inscripción “Deauville Aout 95” (“Deauville, 95 de agosto”) y la firma en la parte inferior izquierda (en un color más oscuro) fueron aplicadas por el artista en diferentes momentos.
