Die Königin ist in jeder Würde ihres Büros dargestellt. Sie ist in der königlichen Mantel mit fleur-de-lis dekoriert und mit Ermin ausgekleidet. Ihre große Perücke, so modisch zu der Zeit, wird mit Blumen an Ort und Stelle von einem Band gehalten. An ihrem Hals trägt der Souverän eine große Medaillon mit dem Profil von Louis XVI. Die Arbeit wurde 1783 im Salon gezeigt. Marie-Antoinette war damals achtundzwanzig Jahre alt, sie war neun Jahre Königin von Frankreich und war die Mutter von zwei Kindern.
