Rosalie Duplant, famosa cantante lirica di Parigi, ha iniziato la sua carriera nel 1763, ritirandosi dal palco circa venti anni dopo, prima della data in cui questo ritratto è stato fatto. Eccellenza particolarmente nell'opera Atys, composto da Niccolò Piccinni nel 1780, che viene rievocata nella partitura aperta sullo stand musicale del pianoforte.
