Dieses Gemälde, das mit seinem Anhänger auf dem Salon von 1765 gezeigt wird, verkörpert Bouchers Behandlung der sogenannten "Loves of the Gods", basierend auf Ovids Metamorphosen (vollständige A.D. 8). Jupiter (symbolisch als Adler dargestellt) hat sich in die Göttin Diana verwandelt (gekennzeichnet durch den kleinen Mond auf ihrer Stirn), um Dianas männlichen Nachfolger Callisto zu verführen. Der verkleidete und sapphische Conceit erlaubte Boucher nicht eine, sondern zwei skandalös gekleidete Frauen darzustellen. Körper, die das ovale Format, die Wolken und die aufwändige Eile der Draperies wecken, tragen dazu bei, eine bewusst instabile Darstellung des Raumes zu schaffen.
