Esta pintura es una de las obras anteriores de Modigliani, y como tal tiene mucho más de un aspecto tradicional. Esta pintura es también indicativa del estilo posterior de la artista en el cuello alargado de la figura y la emoción sombría en su rostro. También hay mucho más detalle en su ropa y su rostro que en las obras posteriores de Modigliani, que se caracterizan por líneas simples y pocas características discernibles. Al principio como artista, Modigliani prefirió a mujeres dibujadas en la vida, muchas de las cuales se dedicaron a asuntos de amor con el pintor guapo. Sólo se pregunta si este era un tema así.
