Zurbarán dipinse un'importante serie di dipinti per i Jeronymites del monastero di Guadalupe. Qui l'umore varia da una vena di realismo a visioni di miracoli e scene di contemplazione in cui il misticismo del grande artista Estremadurano si è mescolato con i suoi colori. Forse la più bella di queste scene è la Casa mistica di Nazareth, nel Museo di Cleveland.
