Zurbarán malte eine wichtige Serie von Gemälden für die Jeronymiten des Klosters von Guadalupe. Hier variiert die Stimmung von einer Vene des Realismus bis zu Visionen von Wundern und Szenen der Kontemplation, in denen die Mystik des großen Estremaduran-Künstlers mit seinen Farben gepaart hat. Vielleicht das Beste dieser Szenen ist das mystische Haus von Nazareth, im Cleveland Museum.
