Sara Andriesdr è raffigurata su questa tela (figlia di Andries) Hessix, moglie di Michiel Jansz. van Middelhoven, un pastore della città di Voorschoten, vicino a Leiden, che sedeva anche per Frans Hals per un dipinto la cui posizione attuale è sconosciuta. Entrambe le opere facevano parte di una coppia e si pensava che fossero state prodotte per celebrare il 40° anniversario del suo matrimonio nel 1586.
