Geng Xue creates pieces in a variety of media. In her latest film The poetry of Michelangelo, the artist performs as a sculptor who is creating and communicating with her work, she does not use any tool, is only to use her hands to push the soft clay, like in a massage. This pile of mud as if already wrapped up a man, and when she knead and touch the mud, the man come out from the mud, with the traces of her hands, and the traces of her work. the entire movie is set into a sculpture teaching film.Michelangelo, giant of Renaissance, his sonnets, love poems which addressed to the Gay lovers, the poems are full of love, art and divinity, passionate and beliefs. The artist uses these poems as subtitles of her film, combine with her performing process.The film shows the subtle emotion mixed with a normal working process, calm and strength, erotic and violent conflict, but the entire movie is simply set into a sculpture teaching film, all these are just normal working process.
