Gruppenporträt von Michiel de Ruyter und seiner Familie. Links ist Michiel Adriaensz de Ruyter, Vice Admiral of Holland zum Zeitpunkt dieses Porträts, seine dritte Frau Anna van Gelder (1614-87) und ihr Sohn aus einer früheren Ehe Jan Pauwelsz van Gelder (1647-73). Die drei Kinder der zweiten Ehe von De Ruyter werden vorgeschlagen: weit rechts Cornelia (1639-1720) mit ihrem Mann Jan de Witte (über 1683), in der Mitte Alida (1642-79) und links Angel (1649-83) mit einem Falken. Die beiden kleinen Töchter des Paares, auf der linken Margaretha (1652-88) und auf der rechten Anna (1655-66), spielen mit ihrem Cousin Cornelis de Witte (1660-1701). Zwei Hunde auf der linken Seite. Das Unternehmen befindet sich in einem Garten, links eine Steinmauer, rechts ein Brunnen mit einem Putto.
