Dieses Porträt von Amalia van Solms in einem lackierten ovalen Rahmen basiert auf der Ähnlichkeit des Sitzers in Honthorsts großes Porträt von Frederik Hendrik und Familie (SK-A-874), das wahrscheinlich 1647 ausgeführt wurde. Das Kostüm ist in beiden Gemälden genau dasselbe. Das gewickelte Geflecht wurde jedoch vereinfacht und erscheint entsprechend eher ungerad. Zweifellos das Produkt des großen Studios von Honthorst, die Ausführung des Gesichts des Sitzers ist dennoch nicht ohne Verdienst. Die Handhabung der Draperie ist dagegen unlustvoll.
