Firmato e datato G.V Eeckhout fe Ao 1657. Il dipinto raffigura la scena in Genesi 45:14 dove Giuseppe si rivela ai suoi fratelli e abbraccia i più giovani di loro, Benjamin. L'ambiente drammatico dirige la luce verso il centro della composizione con le due figure che abbracciano. Il dipinto fu dato come dono alla chiesa di Östra Ryd della tenuta di Rydboholm e l'attuale proprietario Abraham Brahe che era anche il proprietario del castello di Skokloster, da Charles De Geer nel 1722. Fu successivamente trasferito al castello di Skokloster nel 1848. Il curch di Östra Ryd servì anche come galleria di dipinti durante il XVIII e l'inizio del XIX secolo, e ancora oggi detiene una bella collezione, con opere di Lucas Cranach il Vecchio ecc (questi dipinti appartenevano alla collezione di Carl Gustaf Wrangel).
