Firmada y fechada G.V Eeckhout fe Ao 1657. La pintura representa la escena en Génesis 45:14 donde José se revela a sus hermanos y abraza a los más jóvenes de ellos, Benjamín. El escenario dramático dirige la luz hacia el centro de la composición con las dos figuras que abrazan. La pintura fue entregada como regalo a la iglesia Östra Ryd de la finca Rydboholm y al actual propietario Abraham Brahe, que también era el dueño del castillo de Skokloster, por Charles De Geer en 1722. Posteriormente fue trasladado al Castillo de Skokloster en 1848. El toque de Östra Ryd también sirvió como una galería de pinturas durante el siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX, y todavía hoy en día tiene una hermosa colección, con obras de Lucas Cranach el Viejo etc (estos cuadros anteriormente pertenecían a la colección de Carl Gustaf Wrangel).
