Gemeinsam in diesem Gemälde sind Heilige Franziskus und Clare, beide aus Assisi. Clare, geboren an einer edlen Familie, hörte Francis predigen, als sie ein Teenager war. Sie kam bald nach dem Konvent unter seiner Leitung und wurde schließlich der Anführer ihrer Ordnung. Das Gebäude in der Ferne kann die Basilika Saint Clare in Assisi sein. Dieses schön erhaltene kleine Panel stammt aus der späten Karriere von Cima, und es zeigt dem Künstler treu einen Stil von Giovanni Bellini in den 1480er Jahren. Tatsächlich wurde Bellinis Unterschrift später, falsch, unten hinzugefügt.
