Dans cette peinture se trouvent Saints François et Claire, tous deux d'Assise. Claire, née d'une famille noble, entendit François prêcher quand elle était adolescente. Peu après, elle rejoint un couvent sous sa direction et finit par devenir le chef de son ordre. Le bâtiment au loin peut être la basilique Sainte Claire à Assise. Ce petit panneau magnifiquement conservé date de la fin de la carrière de Cima, et il montre l'artiste poursuivant fidèlement un style originaire de Giovanni Bellini dans les années 1480. En effet, la signature de Bellini a été ajoutée plus tard, faussement, au bas.
