La imagen fue producida en el taller de Bellini y sigue una caricatura del maestro. En el ejemplo más distinguido de la composición, en la Galería Nacional de Londres, las figuras se muestran con ligeras variaciones contra un fondo oscuro y neutral en lugar de un paisaje. El cuadro actual se ha atribuido a Vincenzo Catena, pero los parecidos a su obra son superficiales. La imagen ha sido muy sobrelimpiada. En consecuencia, las formas parecen esquemáticas.
